Powers of Attorney
Representation/authorisation
As an authorised representative, you can indicate in the EU Trader Portal that you are acting with a power of attorney for an economic operator. In this case, the authorising party must also register with the Customs Portal.
The power of attorney for the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service can be set up in the Customs Portal by both the representative and the represented party.
The terms “authorising party” and “authorised representative” in the EU Trader Portal correspond to “representative” and “represented party” in the Customs Portal.
Setting up and using the powers of attorney
Authorising parties
In the EU Trader Portal, the authorising party can select one of their designated representatives under “Powers of Attorney” and assign the relevant business profiles to them. It is not necessary for the authorised representative to already be registered in the EU Trader Portal. They only need to be registered in the Customs Portal and authorised to use it. When setting up a representative for the first time, no business profiles are selected by default (the “Authorisations restricted” option is set to “Yes”).
By using the business profile, the authorising party can specify the access authorisations of authorised representatives in the individual EU applications.
All business profiles: If the authorised representative is to receive access to all profiles, the authorising party must select the “No” option under “Authorisations restricted”.
Selected business profiles: If access to only certain profiles is to be granted, the authorising party must assign the desired profiles individually.
Authorised representatives
Once an authorised representative has been set up, they can select in the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service that they would like to use the service with a power of attorney set up in the portal. The authorised representative then selects the representative for whom the authorised representative would like to act. The authorised representative can then use the services and the corresponding EU applications on behalf of the authorising party.
