Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism - CBAM
Access Requirements
Access to the CBAM Portal is only available to companies, for this you will need:
Navigation to the CBAM Transitional Registry
After registering in the Customs Portal, link your account to the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service. To do this, select the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service under “General Services” in the Customs Portal.
Fill out your contact details and consent to the forwarding of the data. After submitting, click “Yes” to confirm your registration.
Then select “Access EU applications” in the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service to access the “CBAM Transitional Registry” menu.
Access to the CBAM Portal
You will be redirected to the EU Customs Portal of the European Commission.
Select the “Customs” section (not “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism”).
Registration here is in your own name.
The following fields must therefore be completed:
- Field: Customs
- Field: Germany
- Field: Economic operator:
Field: “I am acting on behalf of”: Select “Myself”.
Then confirm: “I give consent for my identity profile to be requested and shared with the UMM&DS and the Customs EIS.” and click the “Submit” button.
This will then take you to the CBAM Transitional Registry.

Questions about the “EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal” service
You have received the following error message despite having an EORI number: “The EU Trader Portal, CBAM Portal service cannot be accessed, as you do not have a valid EORI number.”
Please check if your EORI number aligns with the company data in the Customs Portal. If this data is correct, please contact the Customs Service Desk, providing your EORI number and the e-mail address registered in the Customs Portal
